The Indego Africa Project utilizes an innovative hybrid approach to social development. Setting itself apart from both commercial handicraft exporters, which provide only income, and traditional non-profits, which focus only on aid, Indego Africa partners with women's cooperatives in Rwanda to create a market for their products (with 100% of the profits returning to the Rwandan women who earned them) while also investing in literacy, computer skills, bookkeeping and other skills that will empower them and their country to compete in a 21st Century economy.
